A dozen new COVID-19 cases were reported on the Big Island Thursday, bringing the total case count to 2,404.
Statewide, a total of 122 new cases were reported by the Department of Health. Oahu reported 84 of those cases, Maui County 20 and Kauai had no new cases. Six residents were diagnosed while outside the state.
Statewide, to date, there have been 29,071 people who have tested positive for COVID-19. The Big Island on Thursday had a 1% test positivity rate, under the statewide rate of 1.5%.
Over the past two weeks, the Big Island has reported 102 cases or an average of 7.1 cases per day. The majority of those cases have been in East Hawaii with the Hilo area reporting 31 and the Keaau area 18. The Kailua-Kona area has reported 25 in the past 14 days.
Statewide, 41 people were hospitalized Thursday, with no hospitalizations on the Big Island. To date, 2,288 people have required hospitalization, including 118 on the Big Island.
One new coronavirus-related death was reported on Thursday by the state among an Oahu resident. Of the 458 coronavirus-related deaths confirmed and reported by the state to date, 364 were on Oahu, 37 were on Maui, 53 were on the Big Island and one on Kauai. Three deaths were among residents outside the state.
No deaths have been reported on the Big Island this year.
