Fourteen new COVID-19 cases were reported on the Big Island Saturday, bringing the total case count to 2,432.
Statewide, a total of 113 new cases were reported by the Department of Health. Oahu reported 60 of those cases, Maui County 30 and Kauai had one new case. Eight residents were diagnosed while outside the state.
Statewide, to date, there have been 29,306 people who have tested positive for COVID-19. The Big Island on Saturday had a 1.2% test positivity rate, under the statewide rate of 1.6%.
Over the past two weeks, the Big Island has reported 108 cases or an average of 7.7 cases per day. The majority of those cases have been in East Hawaii with the Hilo area reporting 38 and the Keaau area 14. The Kailua-Kona area has reported 24 in the past 14 days.
Statewide, 39 people were hospitalized Saturday, with no hospitalizations on the Big Island. To date, 2,292 people have required hospitalization, including 118 on the Big Island.
Three new coronavirus-related deaths were reported on Saturday by the state among two Maui residents and one Oahu resident. Of the 462 coronavirus-related deaths confirmed and reported by the state to date, 365 were on Oahu, 40 were on Maui, 53 were on the Big Island and one on Kauai. Three deaths were among residents outside the state.
No deaths have been reported on the Big Island this year.
