Six new COVID-19 cases were reported on the Big Island Tuesday, bringing the total case count to 2,463.
Statewide, a total of 71 new cases were reported by the Department of Health. Oahu reported 45 of those cases, Maui County 12 and Kauai had one new case. Seven residents were diagnosed while outside the state.
Statewide, to date, there have been 29,581 people who have tested positive for COVID-19. The Big Island on Tuesday had a 1.5% test positivity rate, under the statewide rate of 1.6%.
Over the past two weeks, the Big Island has reported 120 cases or an average of 11.1 cases per day. The majority of those cases have been in East Hawaii with the Hilo area reporting 44 cases. The Kailua-Kona area has reported 22 in the past 14 days.
Statewide, 43 people were hospitalized Tuesday, with one hospitalization on the Big Island. To date, 2,312 people have required hospitalization, including 119 on the Big Island.
No new coronavirus-related deaths were reported on Tuesday. Of the 462 coronavirus-related deaths confirmed and reported by the state to date, 365 were on Oahu, 40 were on Maui, 53 were on the Big Island and one on Kauai. Three deaths were among residents outside the state.
No deaths have been reported on the Big Island this year.
