Larry Snook

Larry Dean Snook, 75, of Hilo, died March 23, 2021, at Hilo Medical Center. He was a U.S. Navy submarine specialist and Vietnam War veteran and member of community organizations like the VFW, Disabled American Veterans, Loyal Order of Moose, and Sprinklerfitters Union.

No services. Donations in his memory can be sent to the Moose Family Center, 205 South Walton Ave., Yuba City, CA 95993.

He is survived by daughters, Michelle Bond of Oroville, CA, Sharon Keoppel of Shingle Springs, CA, and Tess Snook O’Riva of Rodeo, CA; and eight grandchildren.

Ichiro Nishiura

Ichiro Nishiura, 93, of Hilo, died March 18, 2021, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Kapoho, he was retired from Isemoto Contracting Co. Ltd., U.S. Army Korean War veteran and member of Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin and Masons Union of Hawaii – BAC Local 1.

Private services held. Family requests no monetary gifts or flowers.

He is survived by wife, Matsue Nishiura of Hilo; daughter, Gail (Glenn) Okada of Hilo; sons, Lance (Elaine) Nishiura, Kelvin (Donna) Nishiura and Clayton (Nancy Kunishige) Nishiura, all of Hilo; brothers, Norman Nishiura of Honolulu, and Hideo (Betty) Nishiura of Hilo; sisters, Mildred Nakanishi and Sadako Aburamen, both of Hilo, and Takako Desaki of Honolulu; two grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Lester Lorenz

Lester Keala Lorenz, 44, of Honaunau, died Dec. 3, 2020, at Hilo Medical Center. Born July 28, 1976, in Kealakekua, he was a drywaller and framer and a member of Carpenters Union Local 745.

Services will be held at a later date.

He is survived by daughters, Naomi Laplante and Jasmine Laplante, both of Kauai; parents, Lester and Leilani Lorenz-Acia of Hookena; sister, Celeste (Martin) Acia-Lorenz of Hookena; nieces; threee nephews; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Correction

Teri-Lee Lidstone-Whitney

An obituary published Tuesday for Teri-Lee Lidstone-Whitney, 53, of Hilo, who died April 1, 2021, at her residence, omitted the names of three surviving children, Daysha (Tyler) Tablit, Alisha Whitney and Ryson Whitney, all of Hawaii, due to information provided by the mortuary. It is the policy of West Hawaii Today to correct promptly any misleading or incorrect information when it is brought to the attention of the newspaper.
