Seiko Grote

Seiko Grote, 92, of Mountain View, died March 30, 2021, at her residence. Born in Kurtistown, she was a retired bank teller and member of the Hi-Lo Square Dancing Club.

She is survived by daughters, Leila (Peter) Duim of Kona, and Lisa (Chuck) Furtado of Mountain View; sons, Paul (Cherise) Bence of Honolulu, George (Beverly McCabe) Bence of Keauhou, and Brian (Charmie) Bence of Kurtistown; sister, Alice Spencer of Honolulu; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Satsue Yoshizawa

Satsue “Sachi” Yoshizawa, 89, of Pepeekeo, died March 27, 2021, at a private care home. Born in Mountain View, she was the retired owner of the former Yoshizawa Liquor Store in Pepeekeo, former seamstress and a member of the Taishoji Soto Mission.

Private services held. Family requests no flowers and no koden (monetary gifts).

She is survived by sons, Glenn (Monica) Yoshizawa of Hilo, and Gary Yoshizawa of Pepeekeo; sisters, Kimie (Naoshi) Watanabe and Toshie Miyasaki, all of Hilo,and Misae (Paul) Hironaka of Kailua, Oahu; three grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Arrangements by Dodo Mortuary.

Rita Thompson

Rita L. Thompson, 97, of Kailua, Oahu, died March 21, 2021, at her daughter’s residence in Pahoa. She was born Dec. 2, 1923, in Neu-Bamberg, Germany.

She is survived by daughters, Gerianne Dudash of North Port, Florida, Erni Thompson of Sarasota, Florida, and Barbara Thompson of Pahoa; brother, Hubert Luttenberger of Neu-Bamberg, Germany; four grandsons; one great-grandson; two hanai great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Donna-Frances Street

Donna-Frances Kaleiluhilani Street, 67 of Hilo, died April 4, 2021 at her home. Born in Hilo, she was a retired supervising police radio dispatcher for the County of Hawaii.

She is survived by her sons, Keith Kiyojima, Frederick (Michele) Desha, and Tipton (Carrie) Street; daughter, Tanya-Jo (Puna) Moller; hanai brother, Keith Wilhelm; sisters, Henrietta Clay, Alexandra Waipa, and Simone (Samuel) Kalua; sister-in-law, Karen Desha; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and cousins.
