Big Island police have located 30-year-old Maria Girangaya, of Ocean View, who was wanted for several outstanding warrants, as well as questioning in connection with an ongoing criminal investigation.

At 1 p.m. Tuesday, members of the Area II Special Enforcement Unit located Girangaya at a residence on Plumeria Road in the Alii Kai subdivision of Kailua-Kona. Girangaya was arrested for her outstanding warrants at the Kealakehe Police Station as detectives from the Area II Criminal Investigation Section continued pursuing several ongoing investigations in which Girangaya was a suspect.

At 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, Girangaya was charged with two counts of criminal contempt of court. She was also charged with a single count of unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle stemming from the removal of a sport utility vehicle from South Point on April 1. The vehicle was recovered from a property in the Hawaiian Ocean View Estates on Tuesday, after tips from the public were received regarding the vehicle’s location.

Girangaya’s bail was set at $3,300.
