College students celebrated the near-completion of their ready-to-publish books by planting koa trees Friday in the Honua’ula Forest Reserve in North Kona.
The students of Dr. Richard Steven’s History 274 Writing Personal History class at UH Center at West Hawaii-Palamanui highlighted their crowning achievement with the planting on Arbor Day.
The site was non-other than the upper forest of Honua’ula of the verdant Kaloko mauka rain forest on the slopes of the Hualalai to aid in restoring the cloud forest. Seedlings were provided by the Department of Land and Natural Resources Division of Forestry and Wildlife State Tree Nursery.
