Two new COVID-19 cases were reported Wednesday on the Big Island bringing the total number of cases 2,711.
Statewide, 64 new cases were reported on Wednesday by the Department of Health. Oahu reported 40 of those cases, Maui County eight and Kauai six. Six residents were diagnosed while outside the state.
Since the end of last February, 32,794 people have tested positive for COVID-19 across Hawaii. The Big Island still had a 0.6% test positivity rate on Wednesday, under the statewide rate of 1.7%.
Over the past two weeks, the Big Island has reported 60 cases, or an average of four cases per day. Twenty-one of those cases were reported in Kailua-Kona and 16 in Hilo. Most other areas of the island are reporting less than 10 cases per day.
On Wednesday, 56 people were hospitalized across the state, including two on the Big Island. To date, 2,506 people have required hospitalization, including 130 on the Big Island.
One new coronavirus-related deaths was reported by the state on Wednesday. The death was on Oahu. Of the 485 coronavirus-related deaths confirmed and reported by the state to date, 375 were on Oahu, 52 were on Maui, 53 were on the Big Island and two on Kauai. Three deaths were among residents outside the state.
