Webinar to cover post-vaccination caregiving
Learn what family caregivers and their loved ones who have been vaccinated can and can’t do safely during a free webinar presented by AARP Hawaii and Mountain-Pacific Quality Health at 9 a.m. on Friday.
“I’m Vaccinated Against COVID-19. Now What? Are We Back to Normal?,” is the first in a series of “House Calls” webinars to help family caregivers take better care of their loved ones at home and in skilled nursing or assisted living facilities.
Stevi Sy of Mountain-Pacific Quality Health will lead Friday’s webinar centered around ways to connect with vaccinated loved ones at home or in a nursing home or assisted living community homes while still being cautious about COVID-19 and other contagious illnesses.

The webinar series comes out of the Centers for Disease Control’s Project Firstline, which offers interactive infection prevention and control curriculum for health care and public health workers and family caregivers. The CDC is working with more than a dozen health care, public health, and academic partners, as well as 64 state, territorial, and local health departments on Project Firstline’s objective of slowing and stopping the spread of infectious disease by helping family caregivers understand how to keep their loved ones protected to reduce healthcare costs and hospital readmissions.

Nominations sought for Pualu Awards
The Kona-Kohala Chamber of Commerce (KKCC) is seeking nominations for its annual Pualu Awards recognizing business leadership and community service.
The Pualu Community Service and Business Leadership Awards recognize individuals, businesses and/or non-profit organizations that exemplify a commitment to the improvement and advancement of the community.
Nominations of KKCC members will be accepted through May 31. Awards are open to Kona-Kohala Chamber members in good standing only.
Award recipients will be announced at the Annual Membership and Installation Meeting scheduled for June 25.
To share a story, include one or more of the following:
• Describe the project, program, activity or service that demonstrates leadership and/or innovation in an industry.
• Describe how the company improved the quality of life or had a positive impact in the community.
• Describe the creative or unique methods used to accomplish the goal or project.
• Provide any other relevant information that is important to the story.
In addition, please provide two references or testimonials. Images or short videos (30 seconds or less) are welcome.
