Three new COVID-19 cases reported Saturday on the Big Island brings the total case count to date to 2,754.

Statewide, 105 new cases were reported Saturday by the Department of Health with 79 of those cases on Oahu, 16 in Maui County and one new case in Kauai County. Six residents were diagnosed while outside the state.

Since the end of last February, 33,637 people have tested positive for COVID-19 across Hawaii.

Over the past two weeks, the Big Island has reported 54 cases, or an average of 3.8 cases per day. Of those cases, 17 were reported in Kailua-Kona. Other districts around the island reported 10 or less cases in the two-week period.

The Big Island Saturday had a 0.6% positivity rate, less than the statewide rate of 1.4%

Also Saturday, a total of 52 patients with the virus were in Hawaii hospitals with one reported on the Big Island.

One new coronavirus-related death was reported on Saturday among a person in Oahu. Of the 491 coronavirus-related deaths confirmed and reported by the state to date, 379 were on Oahu, 54 were on Maui, 53 were on the Big Island and two on Kauai. Three deaths were among residents outside the state.

As of Saturday, DOH reported 81,529 or 52% of the Big Island population age 18 and over have initiated the vaccine. 67,651 or 43% of the population have completed their doses.
