Earl Mukai

Earl Iwao Mukai, 81, of Keaau, died April 19, 2021, at Hilo Medical Center. Born Feb. 1, 1940, in Ka’u, he was a retired boilermaker supervisor from Hawaiian Independent Refinery Inc., worked for the former Terminal Steel, U.S. Army veteran and member of International Brotherhood of Boilermakers, Iron Ship Builders, Blacksmiths, Forgers and Helpers Union Local 204 and past president and member of Puna Hongwanji Mission.

Friends may call at 1 p.m. May 22 at Puna Hongwanji Mission in Keaau followed by military honors at 2 p.m. and a private memorial service. Family requests casual attire be worn and no monetary gifts or flowers.

He is survived by sisters, Lorraine Sueoka of Kaneohe, Oahu, Hiroko Kujubu of Hilo, Jane Hurtle of Kailua, Oahu, and Sarah Bernabe of Waianae, Oahu; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Margaret Feliciano

Margaret “Ma” Nancy Feliciano, 83, of Hilo, died May 10, 2021, at her residence. Born March 26, 1938, in Kukaiau, she was a homemaker.

Services will be held at a later date.

She is survived by children, Dianalynn Yogi, Keldon (Stephanie) Yogi, Kahealani (Abraham) Poai-Yogi and Cygie (Kaiya) Kamalii, all of Hilo; brothers, Benjamin Feliciano and Martin (Diane) Feliciano of Paauilo, Pabling Feliciano of Honokaa, and Dyniss Feliciano and Rhudel Feliciano of Roy, Utah; sisters, Gina DeRego of Honokaa, Buena (Conrad) Giminiz of Puna, Marie (Rodney) Paulos of Waimea, Debbie (Gary) Mendes of Ahualoa, Sheila Feliciano of Kona, Kanani Feliciano of Hilo, and Jocelyn (Bradley) Carvalho of Honokaa; and seven grandsons.

Alan Schmiedeberg

Alan Dennis Schmiedeberg, 67, of Ocean View, died March 28, 2021, at Kona Community Hospital. Born June 29, 1953, in Park Rapids, MN, he was a musician.

He is survived by wife, Sandra Schmiedeberg of Ocean View; stepson, Kirk McKibben and stepdaughters, Amy Bradford, Erica (Larry) McKibben-Rathbone, all of Anchorage, Alaska; sisters, Liana (Bob) Claymore of Hanna, Wyoming, Judy (Gary) Condiff and Julianne (Carl) Malm, all of Minnesota; three stepgrandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Wayne Delo Santos

Wayne Kealoha Delo Santos, 65, of Hilo, died April 30, 2021, at Hale Ho’ola Hamakua in Honokaa. Born Feb. 16, 1956, in Hilo, he was member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Private services held.

He is survived by brother, Ellsworth (Merle) Delo Santos of Hilo; sister, Carol (Bobby) La Brie of Ookala; and numerous children, grandchildren, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Howard Moreira Jr.

Howard Patrick Moreira Jr., 81, of Keaau, died April 24, 2021, at his residence. Born May 3, 1939, in Honolulu, he was a heavy equipment operator for Hawaiian Dredging, Joe Powell, and GM Tanaka; and a mechanic for BI Moving and Draying Company.

He is survived by wife, Ginger Moreira of Keaau; sons, Derrick (Cynthia) Moreira of Hilo, Daryl Moreira of Ocean View, and Joshua Knigge of Seattle; daughters, Dalene Moreira of Hilo and Leilani (John) Short of Granite Falls; sisters, Geraldine (Gary) Ostendorf of Yelm, Washington, and Barbara Jean (Joe) Daniels of Honolulu; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
