Fumio Oshiro

Fumio Oshiro, 87, of Hilo, died April 29, 2021, at his residence. Born in Glenwood, he was retired from Hawaiian Airlines and a member of Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin and Anela Nani Kumiai.

Private services were held. Family requests no monetary gifts.

He is survived by son, Donn (Karen) Oshiro of Lake Forest Park, Wash.; sisters, Elsie Oshiro of Honolulu, Naomi (Benjamin) Sakuma of Pearl City, Oahu; two grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Harriet Pacheco

Harriet Leilani Pacheco, 79, of Keaau, died May 6, 2021, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Maui, she was a baker and owner of the former Punahele Bakery Shop and was also a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Private services held.

She is survived by sons, William Branco of Kona and Herman Pacheco of Honolulu; daughters, Tammy Branco of Honolulu, and Peggy Pacheco and Lisa (Michael) Turpen, all of Hilo; 16 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Tyler Pack

Tyler Lee Pack, 37, of Kailua-Kona, died March 28, 2021, at Kona Community Hospital. Born Feb. 5, 1984 in Idaho Falls, Idaho, he was a carpenter, hunter, fisherman, golfer and member of the Hawaii Carpenters Union.

He is survived by wife, Chevone Pack of Kailua-Kona; daughter, Karmyndee Spokile; parents, Lee and Lisa Pack, all of Idaho; sister, Kristina (Nathan) Waggoner both of Utah, Analee Pack; brother, Jake (Becca) Pack; grandmother, Rita Norlen all of Idaho; hanai children, Justice Manago, Aysia Manago, Leila Estoy-Keka all of Kailua-Kona; and numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Il Villesca

Il Son “Un Ju/Cecilia” Villesca, 70, of Hilo, died May 16, 2021, at her residence in Mountain View. Born Feb. 3, 1951, in Masan-City, Korea, she was a member of the Hilo Korean Methodist Church and a bingo player.

Private services will be held at a later date.

She is survived by son, Sony (Darilyn) Villesca of Waikoloa; daughters, Jennifer (Russell Mendez) Villesca and Vanessa (Clarence) Cottrell, all of Hilo; brother, Il Young Son of Korea; and two grandchildren.

Helen Young

Helen Simpson Young, 90, of Kailua-Kona, died April 23, 2021, at Life Care Center of Kona. Born Feb. 14, 1931, in Honolulu, she was a retired administrative assistant for Augustine Realty and Chaney Brooks &Co.

Private service to be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Easter Seals of Hawaii.

She is survived by daughter, Lynn Olival of Kailua-Kona; sons, Gary Vannatta of Hilo, Bruce Vannatta of Honolulu; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Lester Lewi

Lester Kalani Lewi, 69, of Kailua-Kona, died April 10 at Life Care Center of Kona. Born March 15, 1952, in Honokaa, he was a coffee farmer and a former UPS driver.

He is survived by son, Jeffrey (Gina Cantiberos) Lewi of Kailua-Kona; daughter, Jaydine (Damon) Manny of Ocean View; sisters, Sandra Lewi, Francine Lewi, Cheryl Caravalho-Lewi, Bernadine Caravalho-Lewi, all of Kailua-Kona; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Miyoko Taira

Miyoko Taira, 89, of Hilo, died May 14, 2021, at Hale Anuenue Restorative Care Center. Born in Hilo, she was a retired cook and assistant cafeteria manager for Hawaii County Economic Opportunity Council at St. Joseph Schools, member of Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin and Hui Okinawa.

Friends may call at 1 p.m. May 29 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for viewing. Private service to follow at 2 p.m. Casual attire.

She is survived by son, Gordon Taira of Hilo; daughters, Donna Taira and Patti (Jon Tokuuke) Taira-Tokuuke, all of Hilo; sisters, Grace Isa of Honolulu, Shigeko Hirano of Hilo, and Ellen (Clifford) Mikasa of Torrance, California; brothers, Stanley Nishihara of Hilo, and Royden (Rose) Nishihara of Honolulu; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces &nephews.

Lily Maliikapu

Lily Maliikapu, 60, of Kealakekua, died April 24, 2021, at the family’s residence Mauka Kahaluu Kona. Born Aug. 1, 1960, in Kealakekua,she was a former employee KTA Super Stores and McDonald’s, and a housekeeper for King Kamehameha Hotel.

Private service to be held.

She is survived by siblings, Ruth Parker of Mauka Kahaluu, Edna Phillip, Hune Phillip III, Lois Phillip, all of Kailua-Kona, and Andrew Kaiawe of South Kona; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
