Big Island police Thursday identified the victim of a fatal shooting at End of the Wold Tuesday as 46-year-old Joey Richmond of Kailua-Kona.

Shortly before 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, police responded to a report of an unresponsive man lying face-down on the ground at Keauhou-Kainaliu Beach Road, locally known as “End of the World.” Police told West Hawaii Today that a family fishing at the site had come upon the scene and reported it to police.

An autopsy conducted Wednesday determined Richmond died of multiple gunshot wounds, police said. The manner of death was listed as homicide.

Detectives from the Area II Criminal Investigation Section are continuing the investigation, which has been classified as second-degree murder.
