The Big Island reported 19 new COVID-19 cases Tuesday, bringing the island’s total case count to 2,968.
Statewide, 56 new cases were reported by the Department of Health with 30 of those cases on Oahu, three in Maui County and three on Kauai. One case was a resident diagnosed out of state. Since the end of last February, 36,332 people have tested positive for COVID-19 across Hawaii.
Over the past two weeks, the Big Island has reported 142 cases, or an average of 16.1 cases per day.
The Big Island had a 3.4% positive rate, over the state’s 1.1% positivity rate on Tuesday.
Also Tuesday, a total of 48 patients with the virus were in Hawaii hospitals with three reported on the Big Island.
No new coronavirus-related deaths were reported on Tuesday. Of the 500 coronavirus-related deaths confirmed and reported by the state to date, 388 were on Oahu, 54 were on Maui, 53 were on the Big Island and two on Kauai. Three deaths were among residents outside the state.
