No new COVID-19 cases were reported on the Big Island Wednesday, leaving the island’s total case count at 2,968.
Statewide, 25 new cases were reported by the Department of Health with 13 of those cases on Oahu, nine in Maui County and none on Kauai. One case was a resident diagnosed out of state. Since the end of last February, 36,351 people have tested positive for COVID-19 across Hawaii.
Over the past two weeks, the Big Island has reported 136 cases, or an average of 15 cases per day.
The Big Island had a 3.3% positive rate, over the state’s 1.1% positivity rate on Wednesday.
Also Wednesday, a total of 36 patients with the virus were in Hawaii hospitals with two reported on the Big Island.
No new coronavirus-related deaths were reported on Wednesday. Of the 500 coronavirus-related deaths confirmed and reported by the state to date, 388 were on Oahu, 54 were on Maui, 53 were on the Big Island and two on Kauai. Three deaths were among residents outside the state.
