Three new COVID-19 cases were reported on the Big Island Thursday, bringing the island’s total case count at 2,9718.
Statewide, 45 new cases were reported by the Department of Health with 36 of those cases on Oahu, one in Maui County and one on Kauai. Four case was a resident diagnosed out of state. Since the end of last February, 36,402 people have tested positive for COVID-19 across Hawaii.
Over the past two weeks, the Big Island has reported 136 cases, or an average of 14.6 cases per day.
The Big Island still had a 3.3% positive rate, over the state’s 1% positivity rate on Thursday.
Also Thursday, a total of 35 patients with the virus were in Hawaii hospitals with four reported on the Big Island.
One new coronavirus-related deaths was reported on Thursday on Maui. Of the 501 coronavirus-related deaths confirmed and reported by the state to date, 388 were on Oahu, 55 were on Maui, 53 were on the Big Island and two on Kauai. Three deaths were among residents outside the state.
