Three new COVID-19 cases were reported on the Big Island Monday, bringing the island’s total case count at 3,043.
Statewide, 33 new cases were reported by the Department of Health with 17 of those cases on Oahu, 12 in Maui County and none on Kauai. One case was among a resident diagnosed out of state. Since the end of last February, 36,649 people have tested positive for COVID-19 across Hawaii.
The Big Island had a 2.3% seven-day positivity rate, over the state’s 0.9% positivity rate on Monday. The state’s largest island has reported 190 cases over the last 14 days. Over the past week, the island has reported 13.4 cases per day.
Also Monday, a total of 36 patients with the virus were in Hawaii hospitals with four reported on the Big Island.
No new coronavirus-related deaths were reported on Monday. Of the 505 coronavirus-related deaths confirmed and reported by the state to date, 392 were on Oahu, 55 were on Maui, 53 were on the Big Island and two on Kauai. Three deaths were among residents outside the state.
