Conchita Sahagun

Conchita “Connie” Palacol Sahagun, 72, of Papaikou, died May 27, 2021, at Hawaii Care Choices Pohai Malama Care Center. Born in Papaikou, she was a retired employee for the state Attorney General Child Support Enforcement Agency, and member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Filipino Catholic Club, Kalanianaole School Class of 1964 and Hilo High School Class of 1967.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. to noon June 13 at Dodo Mortuary upper carport for a drive-through urn visitation.

She is survived by husband, Rudy Sahagun of Papaikou; daughter, Christie (Jason) Zimmer of Keaau; Ron (Rachel) Sahagun of Las Vegas; brothers, Felipe (Daisy) Rosario of San Bruno, California, and Juan (Victoria) Palacol Jr of Bothell, Washington; sisters, Clarita (Ed) Ayson of Mililani, Oahu and Nancy (Allen) Peterson of Vancouver, Washington; four grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mark Chamberlin

Mark Allen Chamberlin, 69, of Volcano Village, died May 30, 2021, at Pohai Malama. Born on Maui, he was the former owner of Lava Rock Backhoe Services and retired as a heavy equipment operator with Operator Engineers Union Local 3.

Private services held.

He is survived by wife, Rae Chamberlin of Volcano; son, Chad Chamberlin Sr. of Kailua-Kona; hanai daughter, Jonelle (Jimmy) Vita of Hilo; brother, Bruce (Leinaala) Chamberlin of Waimea; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and nieces, nephew and cousins.

Harry Pacheco Jr.

Harry Pacheco Jr., 67, of Hilo, died May 28, 2021, in Hilo. Born March 19, 1954, in Hilo, he was a cane truck driver for the former Hilo Coast Sugar Processing Co., a U.S. Navy Seal, and a member of numerous motorcycle clubs and the Glad Tidings Church in Hilo.

Friends may call from 3 to 5 p.m. June 13 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for visitation. Cremation to follow.

He is survived by daughter, Patricia Pacheco-Kaniho of Hilo; sons, Shane Pacheco of Modesto, California, Norman Apana and Vernon (Tyra) Kaniho of Hilo; sister, Claire Pacheco Mays of Kansas City, Missouri; brother, Brian Pacheco of Hilo; 11 grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

Cresencia Babas

Cresencia Quinto Babas, 88, of Pepeekeo, died Monday, May 31, 2021, in Hilo. Born April 8, 1933, in Lipit, Manaoag, Pangasinan, Philippines, she was a factory line worker for Mauna Loa Macadamia Nut Co.

Friends may call at 9 a.m. June 18 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 10:30 a.m. service. Burial to follow at Alae Cemetery (New Section).

She is survived by husband, Marcelino Babas Sr. of Pepeekeo; Marcelino (Judy) Babas Jr. of Honolulu, Ricarte (Chloe) Babas, Relito Babas and Frankilito (Christina) Babas of Keaau, Francisco (Chelsea) Babas of Hilo, Teodorico (Guylyn) Babas of Mountain View, Grace (Stephanie) Babas of Portland, Oregon, Christopher (Samantha) Babas of Pepeekeo and Sherilyn (Selson) Babas of Pawtucket, Rhode Island; 34 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; brothers, Genaro (Nenita) Quinto and Alejandro (Mamita) Quinto of Philippines; sisters, Trinidad (Ignacio) Juanitez and Felisa (Rodolfo) Aspiras of Philippines; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
