Zacarias Labrador

Zacarias Damasco Labrador, 79, of Honokaa, died May 19, 2021, at The Queen’s Medical Center on Oahu. Born Dec. 26, 1941, in Bantog, Asingan, Pangisinan, Philippines, he was a vegetable and rice farmer and a member of the Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Honokaa.

Services will be held at a later date.

He is survived by sons, Ramil Labrador of Philippines and Ruben Labrador of Honokaa; daughters, Marifi Labrador and Rosita Paine of Honokaa; sister, Teresita (Alfredo) Gacula of Honokaa; 13 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Kaleookalani Kekaualua

Kaleookalani Kekaualua, 57, of Hilo, died May 24, 2021, at Hawaii Care Choices Pohai Malama Care Center. Born in Honolulu, he was a professional entertainer and member of New Hope Church Hilo.

Private services held.

He is survived by parents, Genesis and Sheila Kekaualua of Hilo; brother, Matthew (Tiana) Kekaualua of Honolulu; and numerous aunties, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Tatsuo Takahashi

Tatsuo Takahashi, 95, of Kailua-Kona, died May 18, 2021, at Hospice of Kona’s Nakamaru Hale. Born Jan. 23, 1926, in Kaloko, he was a retired baggage agent for the former Aloha Airlines, member of the Keopu Citizens Club and a U.S. Army World War II veteran.

Services will be held at a later date.

He is survived by brother, Haruo Takahashi of San Jose, California, sister, Geraldine (Sadao) Harano of Chicago; and several nieces and nephews.

Michael Bates

Michael Kirchner Bates, 80, of Waimea, died May 28, 2021, at his residence. Born Aug. 29, 1940 in Paia, Maui, he was a building materials supplier, real estate agent, U.S. Coast Guard veteran and member of St. James Episcopal in Waimea.

He is survived by wife, Gale Bates; daughters, Nicole (Shane) Vincent all of Waimea, Fiona (James) Emley of California, Alexandra (James) Hustace of Waimea; brother, William (Vibeke) Bates of Kula, Maui; two grandsons; and nieces and nephews
