A Hilo man accused of stabbing a woman multiple times has been charged with attempted murder and felony abuse.

About 12:26 a.m. Thursday, South Hilo patrol officers responded to a report of a physical domestic dispute at a residence on Kimo Place in Hilo, according to the Hawaii Police Department. Upon arrival, officers located a 25-year-old woman with multiple life-threatening stab wounds to her back and leg.

Officers also located 24-year-old man who reportedly had several self-inflicted puncture wounds to his chest and arm, police said. The man was identified as Cyrus Jabilona.

Both parties were transported to Hilo Medical Center for treatment. The victim and suspect remained at Hilo Medical Center in stable condition as of press-time Thursday.

Jabilona was charged later Thursday with second-degree attempted murder and felony abuse of a household or family member. He remains hospitalized in police custody in lieu of $525,000 bail.

His initial court appearance is set for Monday.
