Ernest Yoshioka

Ernest Rikio Yoshioka, 86, of Hilo, died May 16, 2021, at his residence. Born in Honolulu, he was a retired entomologist for the state Department of Agriculture on the Big Island.

Private services held.

He is survived by wife, Tammie Yoshioka; son, Vince (Jamie) Yoshioka; daughters, Val (Cary) Ichinose and Lisa (Randy) Brigoli; brothers, Allen (Doris) Yoshioka and Charles (Susan) Yoshioka, all of Honolulu, and Bert (Judy) Yoshioka of Kailua, Oahu; and four grandchildren.

Wayne Galante

Wayne John Galante, 77 of Holualoa, died on May 24, 2021, at Hale Ho’ola Hamakua in Honoka’a. Born Nov. 8, 1943, in Denver, he was the dentist/founder of West Hawaii Dental Associates in Kealakekua and a dentist in the Navy on Oahu.

He is survived by daughter, Noelani (Albert) Pi of Kailua-Kona; son, Kai (Sherina) Galante of Kailua-Kona; mother of his children and former spouse, Jane Galante of Kailua-Kona; sister, Kate (Gilberto Cantillo) Galante of Cartago, Costa Rica; three grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Deborah Patnaude

Deborah Starr Kehaulani Patnaude 72, of Hilo, died June 5, 2021, at Hawaii Care Choices Pohai Malama Care Center. Born in Hilo, she was a retired employee of Business Insurance Services.

Private services were held.

She is survived by son, Rue (Lehua) Patnaude of Hilo; daughters, Ilka (Christian) Kelekolio-Kaiwi of Waimea, and Paige (Hokule’a) Patnaude and Kier (Kapena) Parker, all of Hilo; hanai son, Kimo Hodgins of Maui; hanai daughter, Brenda De Luz-Campbell; brothers, Dane (Pam) Silva of Puna, and Duke (Simone) Silva and Dustin (Hope) Silva, all of Washington; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Bozena Babbitt

Bozena Barbara Babbitt, 102, of Kailua-Kona, died June 2, 2021, at Hospice of Kona’s Nakamaru Hale. Born on July 30, 1918, in Pullman, Washington, she was a nurse at a medical clinic and member of the Kona Bridge Club.

Services will be held at a later date.

She is survived by daughter, Margaret (Robert) Clark Anderson and son, Bill (Florence) Babbitt, all of Kailua-Kona; and numerous nieces and nephews.
