Lester Maruoka

Lester Hideo Maruoka, 80, of Waimea, died May 19, 2021, at his residence. Born July 20, 1940, in Honolulu, he was a retired tour director for Tradewind Tours.

No services will be held.

He is survived by wife, Lisa Maruoka of Waimea; son, John (Midori) Burke of Kailua, Oahu; two nephews; and one granddaughter.

Gene Hardy

Gene Royal Hardy, 91, of Kailua-Kona, died June 1, 2021, in Kealakekua. Born June 9, 1929, in Seattle, he worked as a pastry chef.

Friends may call at 1 pm. June 27 at Old Kona Airport Park for a celebration of life.

He is survived by wife, Mary Cris; sons, Royal Hardy of Honolulu, and Lesley Hardy of Salem, Oregon; daughters, Airial Hardy of Cebu, Philippines, Pamela (Stan) Lance of Maui; Rachelle (Scott) Berestoff of Spokane, Washington, and Melanie (Andreas) Gnauck and Marcella (Franck) Chiron, all of Austin, Texas; 15 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Kevin Thomasson

Kevin McLeod Thomasson, 47, of Waikoloa, died June 10, 2021, in Waikoloa. Born July 31, 1973, in Houston, Texas, he worked in sales for the hotel industry.

Private services will be held.

He is survived by father, George Thomasson Jr. of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas; and sister, Chandra (Bennett S. Bartlett) Thomasson Bartlett of Beaumont, Texas.

Nancy Dalbey

Nancy Jean Moffett Dalbey, 87, of Honaunau, died June 5, 2021. Born in Dilley, Texas, she was a retired special education teacher and volunteer at Honaunau Elementary School, and a member of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in Newport Beach, California, and Kona Union Church in Kealakekua.

Services to be determined. Donations is her memory may be made to Alzheimer’s Association Hawaii (www.alz.org/hawaii).

She is survived by daughters, Darralyn (Craig) Clarke of Ocean View and Robyn (Pat) Dunn of Los Angeles; sons, James (Judy) Dalbey of Rancho Del Rey, California, and Jeffrey (Tammy) Dalbey of Hilo; 15 grandsons; and seven great-grandchildren.

Fred Bolton

Fred Arnold Bolton, 86, of Kailua-Kona, died June 1, 2021, at Kona Community Hospital. Born Aug. 11, 1934, in Davidson County, Tennessee, he was a building contractor and member of Grace Community Church.

Services will be held at Grace Community Church in Kailua-Kona.

He is survived by wife, Barbara Bolton; sons, Rory (Cheryl) Bolton, Ronald (Rose) Bolton, and Daniel (Janet) Bolton, all of Kailua-Kona; daughter, Paula (Tom) Neston of Burbank, California; brothers, Glenn (Gloria) Bolton of Huntsville, Alabama and Donald (Betty) Bolton of Los Osos, California; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Joey Richmond

Joey Thomas Richmond, 46, of Kailua-Kona, died May 26, 2021, at Hilo Medical Center. Born Jan. 25, 1975, in Honolulu, he was a media manager for Lahawaiian Candy Company.

He is survived by sister, Shannon Richmond of Texas and nephew, Cory Chamberlin of Kailua-Kona.

Albert Paiva

Albert “Sonny” Paiva, 88, Honokaa, died June 12, 2021, at North Hawaii Community Hospital. Born in Ahualoa, he was a retired police Hawaii County Police Department Hamakua District Commander, former owner of Paiva Ranch, hunter, fisherman, hobbyist and a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Private services.

He is survived by daughter, Roxanne (Robert) Paiva-Rosborough of Honokaa; sons, Barton (Janice) Paiva of Hilo and Robin (Maria) Paiva and Brian (Richelle) Paiva of Honokaa; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
