Big Island police are searching for 52-year-old Joseph Smithey, who family members say they have not heard from since late May.

Smithey is known to frequent the Mountain View and Kurtistown areas and is in need of medical attention, according to the Hawaii Police Department. He is described as being Caucasian, 6 feet in height, and weighing approximately 160 to 170 pounds, with red and gray hair.

There was no last known clothing description for Smithey.
