Big Island police are asking for the public’s help in identifying persons involved in a break-in that occurred sometime between Saturday and Monday morning at the Holualoa Post Office.
At 7:05 a.m. Monday, Kona patrol officers responded to a report of a possible break-in at the Holualoa Post Office. Upon arrival, officers determined that unknown persons entered the post office sometime after it closed on Saturday and before employees arrived on Monday morning, according to the Hawaii Police Department.
Employees from the United States Postal Service are working to determine if any articles of mail were removed from within the post office, police said. Detectives from the department’s Area II Criminal Investigation Section are conducting preliminary investigations until agents from the United States Postal Inspection Service arrive on island to continue the investigation.
