Keauhou Shopping Center hosting school supply drive, other events

Whether students and teachers are reentering the classroom for the first time, continuing to learn virtually, or have remained in-person throughout the past year, Keauhou Shopping Center is providing the community with many different ways to celebrate the fresh start of a new school year. Through a selection of upcoming events, guests will be able to savor the last moments of summer and prepare for school in style.

“We are excited to prepare kids, families, and educators in the Kailua-Kona community for this coming school year,” said Colene DeMello, general manager at Keauhou Shopping Center “This school year will be especially memorable as many students return to in-person learning, and at Keauhou Shopping Center we want to support guests and offer ways to celebrate the start of an exciting new year in the classroom.”

To help local students and educators prepare for the upcoming year, Keauhou Shopping Center will partner with Get Ready Hawaii to host a School Supply Drive through July 31. Guests are encouraged to drop off a variety of school supply items at participating tenants and the drop off bin in the courtyard to benefit the school districts within the community.

Children will also have the opportunity to celebrate going back to school through the KidX Club Back to School Celebration from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 31. The event will feature keiki crafts, yard games, selfie station, face painting, giveaways and more. Get Ready Hawaii will be giving away one free book per child while supplies last.

As teachers transition back into the classroom, the center will show them some love through Teacher Appreciation Pau Hana from 6 to 9 p.m. Aug. 30. Educators can enjoy a teacher-exclusive pau hana, pupus, and sign up for a limited seating free paint-and-sip at Tropics Tap House Kona.
