Miguel Gaspar

Miguel A. Gaspar, 93, of Paauilo, died June 15, 2021 at Hale Ho’ola Hamakua. Born Sept. 29, 1927, in Banna, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, he was a farmer at Yamamoto Farm in Waimea, former dairy worker at Ruis Ranch Enterprises and He retired in 1991 as a Diary worker for Boteilho Hawaii Enterprises, Inc., located in Kohala, and a member of St. Columba’s Episcopal Church in Paauilo.

Friends may call at 5 p.m. July 16 at St. Columba’s Episcopal Church in Paauilo for visitation until 8 p.m. Friends may also call at 8 a.m. July 17 at the church for a 10 a.m. service. Burial at St. Columba’s Episcopal Church Cemetery.

He is survived by wife, Rosalina Gaspar of Paauilo; sons, Remy (Shirley) Gaspar, Jerry (Mila) Gaspar and Wilfred (Delia) Gaspar of Paauilo; daughter, Mary Jane (Boni) Castro of Paauilo; sister, Rosaria Tabucbuc of Paauilo; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Clemente Andaya

Clemente “Celino” Cabanilla Andaya, 77, of Hilo, died July 7, 2021, at Hilo Medical Center. Born June 30, 1944, in Sucoc, Narvacan, Ilocos Sur, Philippines, he worked for Hamakua Sugar Plantation Co. and was also was a ginger and taro farmer.

Friends may call at 5 p.m. July 18 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 7 p.m. service. Friends may also call at 9 a.m. July 19 at the chapel for a 10 a.m. service. Burial at Homelani Memorial Park at noon (Lehua Section).

He is survived by wife, Lourdes Andaya of Hilo; children, Domingo (Aileen) Andaya and Maria Elena (James Patao) Andaya of Hilo, Melchora Lee of Arizona, Juanita Lorma (Scott Halsted) Andaya of Honolulu and Joel (Rose) Andaya of Las Vegas, Nevada; sister, Petronila (Adolfo) Macagba of Oahu; 11 grandchildren; and three-great-grandchildren.

Gary Inouye

Gary Itsuo Inouye, 62, of Clearfield, Utah, and formerly of Hilo, died Sept. 14, 2020, in Clearfield, Utah. Born March 8, 1958, in Captain Cook, he was a mechanic tech for Sunbelt Rentals.

Friends may call at 4:30 p.m. July 21 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 5:30 p.m. service. Casual attire is requested.

He is survived by wife, Frances Inouye of Clearfield, Utah; daughters, Chante (Will Arbus) Hain of Utah, Marsha (Nicholas) Jarosch of Washington and Trista (Kalani) Calles of Hilo; 10 grandchildren; and additional siblings in Minnesota, Kona and Honolulu.

Eugenio Quiamas

Eugenio Q. Quiamas, 83, of Honokaa, died June 16, 2021, at Hale Ho’ola Hamakua. Born Dec. 20, 1937, in Laoag City, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, he was a retired kitchen helper for Don’s Chinese Kitchen and retired farm helper.

Private services held.

He is survived by wife, Virginia Quiamas of Honokaa; sons, Gene (Evelyn) Quiamas and Fernando Quiamas, all of Honokaa; daughters, Gina (Rony) Miche and Gloria Quiamas, all of Honokaa; sister, Femia Collado of Waikoloa; brother, Clemente (Eve) Quiamas of Honokaa; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Samson Kalani McCandless Sr.

Samson Kalani McCandless Sr., 62, of Kailua-Kona, died July 6, 2021, in Kealakekua. He was born Oct. 24, 1958, in Honolulu.

Private services will be held.

He is survived by wife, Leinani; sons, Samson McCandless Jr. and John McCandless; daughters, Shannon McCandless, Pomaikai McCandless and Joy You; brother, John McCandless III; sisters, Eve McCandless and Paula McCandless-Sen; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
