Fujie Sato

Fujie “Cookie” Sato, 96, of Honaunau, Kona and Mililani, Oahu, died April 13, 2021, in Kapolei, Oahu.

Private service held. The family requests no koden or monetary offerings.

She is survived by Milton and Sharol Deguchi and Brian and Earlyn Isa; three grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Toshio Ushijima

Toshio Ushijima, 92, of Honalo, died June 8, 2021, at his residence. Born July 31, 1928, in Hilo, he retired as owner of Ushijima Garage and was a member of Daifukuji Soto Mission.

Private services held.

He is survived by wife, Kikuko Ushijima and daughter Janice (Maurice) Kameda, all of Honalo.

James Stanton

James Blair Stanton, 67, of Kailua-Kona, died July 8, 2021, at Kona Community Hospital. Born Feb. 4, 1954, in Burbank, CA, he was a self-employed painter, musician and singer.

Private services will be held at a later date.

He is survived by companion, Kathleen Clark of Kailua-Kona; son, Kabir Stanton of Colorado; sister, Nancy (Michael) Fann of Kailua-Kona; and brothers, Louis (Adrienne) Stanton of North Carolina and Stephen (Cris) Anderson of Waimea.

Daniel Johnson

Daniel Ray Johnson, 73, of Pahoa, died July 6, 2021, at Hawaii Care Choices Pohai Malama Care Center. Born in Oklahoma, he was a retired machinist at the Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard and U.S. Navy veteran.

Private services held.

He is survived by wife, Lana Johnson of Pahoa; son Ray (Darlene) Johnson, of Waimanalo, Oahu; daughter, Shannon (Tadao) Takabayashi of Keaau; sisters, Christine Walla of San Diego and Violet (John) Votaw of Napa Valley, California; eight grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
