U.S. Postal Service officials have determined that articles of mail were removed from the Holualoa Post Office during a reported break-in sometime between July 10 and Monday.

At 7:05 a.m. on Monday, Kona patrol officers responded to a report of a possible break-in at the Holualoa Post Office. Upon arrival, officers determined that unknown persons entered the post office sometime after it closed on July 10 and before employees arrived on Monday morning.

Detectives from the Hawaii Police Department’s Area II Criminal Investigation Section are conducting preliminary investigations into the incident and are coordinating with the United States Postal Inspection Service.

Police encouraged residents to monitor upcoming banking and billing statements for fraudulent activity and to report it accordingly.
