Hawaii Island HIV/AIDS Foundation changes name

The Hawaii Island HIV/AIDS Foundation (HIHAF) has officially changed its name to Kumukahi Health + Wellness. For 35 years, the organization has been serving those who live with HIV on the Big Island. Formed by the merger of the Big Island AIDS Project and the West Hawaii AIDS Foundation in 2003, the Hawaii Island HIV/AIDS Foundation has grown with the changing face of the AIDS epidemic, and expanded its programs to serve many different communities who face similar health disparities

HIHAF changed its name to Kumukahi Health + Wellness to reflect the growth and change of the organization. The new name better encompasses all the services provided by the organization, while staying true to its history and roots and focusing on the whole person, rather than a disease.

The public is invited to learn more at a virtual launch party of “Kumukahi Health + Wellness, A New Day for HIHAF” live on Facebook (@kumukahiHW) and the agency’s new website, www.kumukahihealth.org. The virtual launch party will 11 a.m. to noon Wednesday. The party will showcase a new agency video, messages from government officials and community partners, prizes, warm wishes, a new online store, website, and virtual office walk through.
