Marie Ng

Marie Theresa Hasoon Ng, 92, of Keaau, died Aug. 6, 2021. Born in Honolulu, she was a retired federal employee and attended Bethany Assembly of God church in Aiea, Oahu.

Private services.

She is survived by sons, Kenneth (Peg) Ng Jr., Stephen Ng, and Michael (Dayna) Ng; sisters, Carmen Stazkow, Bella Hong, and Besty Hinau; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Asako Kawasaki

Asako “Betsy” Kawasaki, 98, of Hilo, died July 18, 2021, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Napoopoo, she was a retired employee with the former Miko Meats and a member of the Hilo Meishion Mission.

Private services held. No flowers or koden (monetary donations).

She is survived by daughters, Janet Tabata and Amy Lukzen of Hilo; sister, Lillian Fujimoto of Hilo; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Tomie Nishie

Tomie “Jane” Nishie, 92, of Laupahoehoe, died Aug. 12, 2021, at her home. Born Feb. 24, 1929, in Waiakea. She was a homemaker and longtime member of Papaaloa Hongwanji Mission.

Private services were held. In lieu of monetary gifts or flowers, donations in her memory can be made to Hawaii Care Choices, 1011 Waianuenue Ave., Hilo, HI 96720.

She is survived by son, Richard Nishie of Laupahoehoe; daughter, Joy (Paul) Hansen of Lake Wylie, S.C.; sister, Nancy (Don) Kim of Los Angeles; two grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services for Wayne Gilbert De Motta, 65, of Hilo, who died Sept. 7, 2020, have been canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. A celebration of life will be rescheduled by the family.
