Vaccination clinic scheduled at Kona Commons

A COVID-19 vaccination clinic will be held Thursday at Kona Commons Shopping Center, just outside Jean’s Warehouse.

The free clinic will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and there is no appointment needed. Please bring an ID and insurance card (if you have one).

The clinic will offer second doses of Pfizer for children ages 12 and up and second doses of Moderna for those age 18 and older.

Health professionals from the Bay Clinic and West Hawaii Community Health Center will register, screen, vaccinate and monitor vaccine recipients.

AARP to host forum on booster shots

Kupuna can get the latest information on COVID-19 vaccine booster shots and ask questions of State Epidemiologist Dr. Sarah Kemble at a free telephone forum Wednesday sponsored by AARP Hawaii.

The “Should I get a COVID-19 Booster Shot?” Telephone Town Hall will be held at 6:30 p.m. Kupuna and others interested in learning about booster shots can register to get a phone call to participate in the forum by going to vekeo.com/aarphawaii.

“We know that kupuna have questions about the COVID-19 vaccine and booster shots. The Telephone Town Hall is one way to give kupuna access to reliable information about vaccines, booster shots and how to get the shots,” said Kealii Lopez, AARP Hawaii State Director. “The Telephone Town Hall format allows kupuna who do not have internet access to participate by phone and participants will have an opportunity to ask questions directly of Dr. Kemble.”

Kupuna and others can also go to aarp.org/vaccineinfo to get updated information about vaccines and booster shots and aarp.org/hi for updated information about vaccinations in Hawaii. The Department of Health also has a phone line that’s open during business hours Monday through Friday at (808) 586-8332. People with vaccine questions can also call the Aloha United Way’s 211 Call Center at 2-1-1. The AUW211 call center is open seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
