Learn recipes for locally grown and sustainable foods at AARP Hawaii’s popular Fast, Healthy and Ono cooking webinars with Windward Community College and ‘Uala Leaf Café Chef Daniel Swift.

Swift will demonstrate farm to table dishes with ‘uala (sweet potato), ‘ulu (breadfruit), kalo (taro), avocado, papaya, lemongrass, ‘olena (turmeric) and kabocha on Thursdays at 5 p.m. through Oct. 21. The first episode, “‘Uala Sweet Potato Casserole” aired Thursday.

This Thursday, will be “Bacon Wrapped ‘Ulu-Pops,” followed by “Green Papaya Salad and Boulangere Style ‘Ulu” on Sept. 30. On Oct. 7, Swift will present “Seared Kalo and Mushrooms with Thyme,” followed by “Lemongrass Chicken Stir Fry” on Oct. 14. The series will wrap up Oct. 21 with “Kabocha ‘Pumpkin’ Pie.”

Register to get a Zoom link at aarp.cvent.com/HIcooking. Those who register will be emailed the recipe of the dish being cooked ahead of time so they can cook along with the chef. The webinar can also be viewed as a Facebook Live simulcast on the AARP Hawaii Facebook page.

Participants are invited to stay on for 15 minutes following the program to learn more about how to grow, harvest and buy the locally grown food.
