Isamu Teraoka

Isamu “Mamo” Teraoka, 95, of Hilo, died Aug. 24, 2021, at the Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home. Born in Hilo, he was a World War II U.S. Army veteran, a retired diesel mechanic with the former Mauna Kea Sugar Co., and a member of the Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin and an avid bowler and golfer.

Private services held.

He is survived by sisters Yaeko Koizumi of Hilo, and Fumiko (Gilbert) Tanaka of Kapaa, Kauai; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Kelvin Kaho’opi’i

Kelvin Keli’ikuli Kaho’opi’i, 62, of Kapauu, died Aug. 28, 2021 at his family’s residence. Born May 6, 1959, in Kohala, he was a retired stevedore for Young Brothers.

Services will be held Oct. 2 in North Kohala.

He is survived by wife, Denise Hayes Kaho’opi’i; father, Albert Kaho’opi’i; brothers, Albert Kaho’opi’i Jr., Matthew Kaho’opi’i, Dale Ho’opai and Sheldon Kaho’opi’i; sons, Jason Chai Wilson, Ikaika Keli’ikuli Kaho’o pi’i’, daughters, Nicole Hayes, Staci Lopez and Ashley Miles; and numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and cousins.
