Carlotta Cablay
Carlotta Salomon Cablay, 87, of Kailua-Kona and formerly of Honolulu and Maui, died Aug. 30, 2021 at her residence. Born Nov. 13, 1933, in Hilo, she worked as a hostess/cashier at the Ala Moana and Moana Surfrider Hotels and a pantry worker at the Reef Hotel in Waikiki.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to noon Oct. 1 at Dodo Mortuary chapel; Mass at 10 a.m. Burial of ashes at 11 a.m. Oct. 4 at Alae Cemetery. The family requests casual attire and no flowers.
She is survived by sons, Conrad (Gabby) Cablay of Mississippi and Terrence (Pamela) Cablay of Kona Palisades; daughters, Carolinda (David) Velez of Honokaa and Pamelyn (Derek) Cablay of Kihei, Maui; sister, Edel Madarang of Goodyear, AZ; 10 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Lucy Siu
Lucy Ahea Aiona Siu, 96, of Hilo, died Aug 13, 2021, at her residence. Born in Ho’opuloa, South Kona, she was the last survivor of the original Ho’opuloa village near Miloli’i, which was destroyed by the 1926 lava flow, worked as a preschool teacher, volunteered at Kaiser Hospital and County of Hawaii RSVP, member of the Alu Like Kupuna Program, Hilo Methodist Church, Hilo Missionary Church, teacher of Hawaiian language and ukulele, and former co-owner of Ka’u Fish Market and Wailoa Fish Market.
Private service held. Memorial service will be held at a later date. Written condolences may be mailed to the Siu Family at 2150 Kinoole St., Hilo, HI 96720.
She is survived by son, Leon (Malia Elliott) Siu of Honolulu; daughters, Tuck Sun (Avelino) Bareng of Sacramento, Calif., Vivian (Gary) Mark and Melva (Mark Crowell) Ahu, both of Hilo; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

An obituary for Kelvin Kaho’opi’i published Thursday incorrectly spelled the name of Dale Ho’opai, a surviving brother, due to information provided by the mortuary.
