Brian Enriquez

Brian Kaohuokekuahiwi Enriquez, 54, of Pahoa died Sept. 20, 2021, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Honolulu, he was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Pahoa Ward.

Friends may call from noon to 2 p.m. Oct. 9 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church (gravel parking lot) in Pahoa for a drive-through service.

He is survived by mother, Winifred Enriquez of Pahoa; daughters, Brianna (Kaeo Schweitzer) Enriquez-Cabalis of Pahoa and Brittney (Conan Kumia) Enriquez of Las Vegas; brother, Lloyd (JoAnn) Enriquez of Pahoa; sister, Denise (Les) Hauanio of Pahoa; seven grandchildren; and numerous aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.

John Chin

John Fee Sik Chin, 83, of Hilo, died Sept. 2, 2021, at Hawaii Care Choices Pohai Malama Care Center. Born in China, he was a retired physicist with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, and was also active in tennis, aikido, kobudo taiko drumming, and piano.

Private services held. The family requests no flowers or koden (monetary donations).

He is survived by wife, Janet Chin of Hilo; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

James Bunch

James Drake Bunch, 75, of Waimea, died Sept. 20, 2021, at Hale Hoola Hamakua. Born Jan. 23, 1946 in Enid, Oklahoma, he was a retired general contractor and finish carpenter.

Private service to be held.

He is survived by daughters, Melanie Bunch of Kailua-Kona, and Sophia Bunch of Waimea; father, James Delbert Bunch of Nevada; sister, Kim Horn of California; brother, Rick Bunch of Nevada; companion, Anne Adams, of Waimea; and step-daughter, Alana Adams of Waimea.

Clara McColgan

Clara K. “Kapua” McColgan, 86, of Hilo, died Sept. 9, 2021, at Hilo Medical Center. Born Sept. 13, 1934, in Kaimu, Kalapana, she was a caregiver.

Friends may call at 9 a.m. Oct. 11 at Dodo Mortuary outdoor lanai area for a 10:30 a.m. service. Burial will follow at the Homelani Memorial Park in Hilo. Casual attire is requested.

She is survived by son, Mark Kaukini of Hilo; daughter, Jackie McColgan of Pahoa; brother, Clarence McColgan of Georgia; step-brothers, Matthew Kaukini and Abraham Kaukini, both of Hilo; step-sisters, Lucy Kaukini, Bernadette Kaukini and Shirley Kaukini, all of Hilo; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.

Dane Bowden-Kauka

Dane H. Bowden-Kauka, 36, of Hilo, died Aug. 29, 2021, at Hilo Medical Center. Born May 23, 1985, in Hilo, he was a member of the Hawaii Laborers’ Union Local 368, a heavy equipment operator for Concrete Coring Company, and a former foreman and crane operator at Resort Management Group.

Friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. Oct. 16 at Dodo Motuary upper cartport for a drive-through visitation.

He is survived by companion, Brandi Paulo; mother, Javer (Clarence) Kekaualua; step-mother, Joan Kauka; brother, Kimokeo Bowden Sr.; sister, Amanda Kauka-Fernandez; numerous aunties, uncles, nieces, and nephews; and a hanai niece.

Yukino Endo

Yukino Endo, 89, of Hilo, died Sept. 21, 2021, at Hale Anuenue Restorative Care Center. Born Aug. 11, 1932, in Pepeekeo, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by daughter, Melanie (Craig) Shibuya of Torrance, California; sons, Kevin (Lyndee Maeda) Endo, Kelly Endo, both of Hilo; brothers, Hisaichi (Kazue) Shibata of Hilo, Arthur (Sai) Shibata of Killeen, Texas, Stanley (Susan) Shibata of Sacramento, California; sisters, Kinuyo Isemoto, Helen (Freckles) Izumo, both of Hilo, Judy Kawamura of Concord, CA., Jeannette Nagata of Honolulu, Thelma Spencer of Redding, CA., and Susan (Kenneth) Ujimori of Kapolei, Oahu; two grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Tomiko Yoshimura

Tomiko Yoshimura, 101, of Hilo died Aug. 7, 2021, at her residence. Born in Papaikou, she was a retired seamstress for the former Kamehameha Garment Factory, Hata’s and Edith’s Dress Shop, member of the Taishoji Soto Mission and its Kyodan, Fujinkai, Sunday School, Bushinkai and Baikako, Niigata Kenjin Kai and Lower Kawailani Kumiai.

Private services held. Family requests no flowers and no koden (monetary gifts).

She is survived by sons, Terry Yoshimura of Honolulu and Owen Yoshimura of Hilo; daughter, Lorraine (Dean) Fukuda of Hilo; brother, James(Yuriko) Nakai of Los Angeles; sisters, Fujiko Dochin of Waimea, Aiko (Wight) Sensui of Honolulu; two granddaughters; one great-granddaughter; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Leslie Doctor

Leslie Jiro Ha’aheo Nomura Doctor, 38, of Pahoa died Sept. 19, 2021, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, he was the owner of Mooloa Farms Service, worked at Close Construction, was member of the Flooring Union and held a black belt with Dragon’s Kaju Ken Bo.

Services will be held at a later date.

He is survived by parents, Leslie and Shirley Doctor of Pahoa; brothers, Uriah (Leila) Nomura of Colorado Springs, CO., and Ethan (Ashley) Doctor of Ainaloa; maternal grandfather, Henry Nomura of Ewa Beach, Oahu; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

Florentina Ritarita

Florentina Libed Ritarita, 95, of Orchidland, died Sept. 25, 2021, at her residence. Born in Naguilian, La Union, Philippines, she was a retired teacher at Waipahu High School and past-president of the Filipina Cultural Club on Oahu.

She is survived by daughters, Gloria Ritarita of Honolulu, Brenda (James) Heron of Medford, Oregon, and Vivien (Wally) Moniz of Keaau; son, Glenn (Teresita) Ritarita of San Diego; brother, Alfredo (Cely) Libed of the Philippines; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Corey Thompson

Corey Douglas Thompson, 52, of Keaau, died Sept. 22, 2021, at Hilo Medical Center. Born March 6, 1969, in Missouri, he was self-empolyed.

He is survived by wife, Nicole Degeenakis of Keaau; mother, Joyce Thompson of Camdenton, MO.; siblings, Steven Thompson and Sheryl (Rusty) Murdock of Camdenton, MO., Gary (Ellen) Thompson of Missouri; and numerous nieces and nephews.
