County extending hours for some driver’s licensing offices

Hawaii County will be extending the hours of operation at the Hilo and Kona Driver’s Licensing offices to help process expired or expiring credentials.

The Kona office will be open from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 22, Oct. 26 and Oct. 27. On Saturday, Oct. 23, the office at the West Hawaii Civic Center will open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

In Hilo, the office will be open 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.

Additional appointments may be offered online for pre-bookings and walk-ins with credentials that are expired or will be expiring within the next 30 days may be accommodated, pending availability.

Expired driver’s licenses, state IDs, and instructional permits (other than commercial) remain valid until Nov.
