Police seek leads in school burglary

More than $4,300 in laptops and other equipment was taken during a reported burglary at a school in the Volcano area.

At 7:05 a.m. Monday, Puna patrol officers responded to a report of a burglary at a school in the Volcano area. Staff reported that a break-in occurred sometime between 7 p.m. Sunday and 5 a.m. Monday during which numerous electronic items were taken.

Officers determined that suspect(s) pried open a classroom door, taking 11 laptops and two video projectors valued at more than $4,300. The suspect(s) also attempted to pry open a storage trailer but were unsuccessful.

Investigators say it appears that the suspect(s) knew the layout of the premises.
