Police request assistance locating missing Puna woman

Hawaii Island police are asking for the public’s assistance in locating 28-year-old Irie Hegent who was reported missing.

Hegent was last seen sometime in late September in the 300 block of East Makaala Street in Hilo and is known to frequent the Puna area, according to the Hawaii Police Department.

She is described as being Caucasian, 5 feet, 5 inches tall, weighing 140 pounds, with brown hair and green eyes. She has a leopard-print tattoo on her neck and upper back, and “love/hate” tattoos on her wrists.

Anyone who may have information on Hegent’s whereabouts should contact the police department’s nonemergency line at (808) 935-3311.

Those who prefer to remain anonymous may call the islandwide Crime Stoppers number at (808) 961-8300 and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
