Hawaii Island police are investigating a reported assault that occurred late Dec. 3 on Henry Street in Kailua-Kona.

The incident, reported about 10:25 p.m., stemmed from a confrontation regarding the operation of a motor vehicle and may have initially been perceived to be a traffic accident, according to the Hawaii Police Department.
