Wayne Igawa

Wayne Nobuo Igawa, 77, of Hilo, died Nov. 29, 2021, at Hilo Medical Center. Born Aug. 10, 1944, in Ola’a, he worked as a mechanic for the former Keaau Banana Plantation and was a member of Hilo Meishoin and Keaau Seniors, Hilo Hawaiian and Hawaiian Tel Golf Clubs.

Private services held. Family requests no monetary gifts or flowers.

He is survived by brothers, Melvin (Betty) Igawa of Las Vegas, and James (Martha) Igawa of Keaau; sister, Ann Igawa of Torrance, California; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jason Kawahara

Jason Jitsuo Kawahara, 62, of Hilo, died Dec. 1, 2021, at Hawaii Care Choices Pohai Malama Hospice Facility. Born in Hilo, he was a self-employed vegetable produce farmer and a member of the Hilo Meishoin Mission.

Private services. In lieu of flowers and koden (monetary gifts), donations may be made in memory of Jason Kawahara to Hospice of Hilo and/or Hilo Meishoin Mission.

He is survived by mother, Matsue Kawahara of Hilo; brothers, Melvin (Sandra) Kawahara and Terrence Kawahara, all of Hilo, and Leslie (Sandy) Kawahara of Honolulu; niece, Kellie (Seth) Kawahara-Niimi of Seattle, Washington; nephew, Eric Kawahara of Honolulu; and numerous cousins, aunts and uncles.

James Barry

James “Jim” Duane Barry, 91, of Holualoa, died Nov. 3, 2021 at his residence. Born Nov. 28, 1929, in California, he was a high school teacher and football coach at Honokaa and Konawaena High schools, as well as in California.

Services will be held at a later date.

He is survived by wife, Han Sung Barry of Holualoa; daughter, Kathryn Barry of Florida; son, Jamie (Candice Chow) Barry of Holualoa; and granddaughter, Sarah Barry of Holualoa.
