Kahilu Theatre presents Grammy Award-nominated and multi-Na Hoku Hanohano Award-winning artist Kimie Miner, live in her Kahilu debut at 7 p.m. Jan. 8.

Following the concert, there will be a talk story session with Miner.

Miner is a producer, singer-songwriter, recording artist, music publisher, and mentor and founder of Haku Collective, a full-service multimedia talent production and management group. A native Hawaiian mother of three, she is also the founder of MeleCraft Bootcamp, a pro-bono music mentorship program dedicated to supporting aspiring young artists and honoring Hawaiian culture and language.

Her parents, of Hawaiian and Portuguese descent, noticed Miner’s affinity for music when she was very young. At the age of 14, she taught herself to play guitar and began writing original songs.

Miner’s songs frequently evoke the Hawaiian concept of the Piko, the “navel” or “center,” which represents a home base to which one can always return. She notes, “As Hawaiians, we have our roots and our routes. We know who we are, and we take that knowledge with us when we navigate and explore the rest of the world.”

Miner will be joined on the Kahilu stage with her band for a multi-set show featuring some of her hits, including “Bamboo,” “New Day,” and “You are My Sunshine.”

The performance can either be viewed in-person or on-demand via KahiluTV.

The in-person performance requires attendees practice social distancing, mask-wearing, and sanitization protocols. Proof of vaccination or proof of a negative PCR test taken within 72 hours of entering the theater is required. In-person tickets range from $35 to $65 and can be purchased at kahilutheatre.org.

On-demand tickets for this show, which are good for an entire household, are $19.99 and available at Kahilu.TV.
