Paul Rodrick

Paul Francis Rodrick, 69, of Kurtistown died Dec. 17, 2021, at his residence. Born in Brockton, Massachusetts, he was a retired maintenance worker at the Kona International Airport, St. Francis Medical Center on Oahu and the Princess Kaiulani Hotel.

Private services.

He is survived by sons, Jacob (Loveland) Rodrick of Kona and David Rodrick of Hilo; siblings, Marie O’Leary of Idaho, Danny Rodrick of Virginia, and Dotty Dodge of Arizona; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Evelyn Duarte

Evelyn Olive Duarte, 73, of Papaikou, died Dec. 15, 2021 at Hilo Medical Center. Born May 23, 1948, in Hilo, she served in the U.S. Army and was a registered nurse at Hilo Medical Center.

Private services will be held at a later date.

She is survived by mother, Magdalena DeFabian Quirido of Hilo; sons, Kenneth (Jeanette) Olive of Cheyenne, Wyoming and Edward (Christina) Olive of Hilo; daughters, Antoinette Leopoldino and Melanie Duarte of Kailua-Kona; sister, Lorraine Duarte of Hilo; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Eric Chang

Eric Raymond Chang, 61, of Honomu, died Oct. 26, 2021, at Hilo Medical Center. He was born May 10, 1960, in Hilo.

Services will be held at a later date.

He is survived by sons, Nainoa Kalaukoa of Honomu and Isaiah Kalaukoa of California; sister, Deborah (Edwin Petteys) Chang of Paauilo; brother, Paul Chang of Honomu; and an aunt, nephews, two nieces and cousins.

Kosetatino Gugu

Kosetatino “Kofe” Gugu, 82, of Hilo, died Dec. 7, 2021 at his residence. Born Aug. 1, 1939 in Asili, American Samoa, he was a retired supervisor for McKinley Car Wash and member of Pahoa Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Friends may call at 5 p.m. Jan. 6 at ConnectPoint Church in Hilo for a service. Casual attire.

He is survived by daughter, Ema Leilani Gugu (Ulufale) Noa-Vae; hanai daughters, Taiana Kapeli and Eveliga (Jake Kunimitsu) Kapeli-Kunimitsu; hanai son, Guy Nobriga Jr.; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
