FOLK offers scholarships

The Friends of the Libraries, Kona (FOLK) is offering up to $10,000 in scholarships to students pursuing a master’s degree in library and information sciences at American Library Association-accredited programs.

Applications are now open. In order to be considered for a scholarship, applicants must complete and submit all required materials by Feb. 28. Eligibility requirements and application forms are available at folkhawaii.com.

HFSCU announces scholarships

The application period for the HFS Federal Credit Union Scholarship Program is now open for current Big Island high school seniors in the graduating class of 2022 and existing college students.

The credit union will be awarding a total of $25,000 to selected students. Seven Big Island high school seniors and three college students will be awarded scholarships of $2,500 each.

Student members of HFS pursuing higher education full-time at an accredited two- or four-year vocational-technical school, college or university in the 2022-23 academic year are eligible to apply. For a complete list of requirements and to apply, visit hfsfcu.org or inquire with a high school counselors. Completed applications are due by Feb. 28.

The program, which began 10 years ago, has awarded over $177,000 in scholarships that has helped over 70 student members with college expenses.

Hospital foundation seeks board members

The Kona Hospital Foundation is accepting applications for volunteer board members. The foundation is looking for passionate individuals who want to make a difference in our community’s health care system.
