The Waimea Community Association hosts its Virtual Town Meeting from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday evening.

The agenda will include a very diverse sampling of news, challenges and opportunities including:

• An update about what the community and island is experiencing and availability of walk-in testing, home test kits, vaccinations, boosters, hospital capacities, quarantine and isolation guidelines, group gathering rules, etc.

• Legislative updates by state Sen. Lorraine Inouye and County councilmembers Heather Kimball and Tim Richards

• Updates from Kahilu Theatre; Waimea Middle School on becoming a volunteer mentor for 6th to 8th grade students; AARP’s free tax prep service for kupuna and low income individuals and families; the county’s recent securing of a $500,000 Phase 1 federal grant award from the US Economic Development Administration (EDA) Build Back Better Regional Challenge (BBBRC); and from the Hawaii Police Department

The meeting will be streamed “live” on WCA’s Facebook page. Questions are welcome, preferably in advance, to waimeacommunityassociation@gmail.com. Questions can also be typed into the Facebook “chat” during the meeting and will be addressed as time permits.
