Emilio Dinson Sr.
Emilio Dinson Sr., 89, of Kealia, died Jan. 22, 2022 at his residence. Born Jan. 5, 1933, in North Kona, he was a heavy equipment mechanic/operator who worked for Hokukano Ranch, Volcanite Concrete, West Hawaii Concrete, and Pacific Concrete; self-employed logger; and a volunteer with the Alcoholics Anonymous.
Friends may call at 9 a.m. Feb. 19 at Life Water Church, Kealakekua, for a 10 a.m. service. Burial to follow at Kona Memorial Park, Holualoa. Casual attire; flowers are welcomed.
He is survived by sons, Chris Dinson of Honaunau, Theodore Dinson of Kealia, Wendell Dinson of Ocean View, Lincoln (Jolene) Dinson of Kailua-Kona and Dwight Brooks of Ocean View; daughters, Lynnette Wong of Honolulu, Julie (Capt. John Green) Krewson of Orange Beach, Alabama, Jay-Nyn (Robert) Gouveia of Ocean View, Darlyn (Ezekiel) Bryant of Kaneohe, Oahu, Mi-Ladee (Kyle Kondo) Johnson of Kealakekua, Jan-Noel (Dan) Billedeaux of Vancouver, Washington and Yolana-Lee (Keith) Chang of Kaneohe, Oahu; brothers, Leonardo (Jean) Dinson, Louis (Sarah) Dinson and Ronald (Karen) Dinson, all of California; sisters, Laura (Stanley) Lacaden of Oahu and Lillian (Clyde) Tamanaha of Honalo; 36 grandchildren; 55 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Carol Ching
Carol Charlene Ching, 73, of Hawi, died Jan. 25, 2022, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Kohala, she was a waitress, food and beverage cashier, and room service order taker/expediter at Mauna Kea beach Hotel and member of the Hawi Sacred Heart Catholic Church where she was a religious education teacher and floral assistant for the church.
Friends may call at 8:45 a.m. Feb. 19 at Hawi Sacred Heart Catholic Church Saint Damien Hall for a drive-thru visitation. Mass at 10 a.m. (entrance by ticket only). Urn burial to follow in the Hawi Catholic Cemetery.
She is survived by brother, Richard (Somjit) Ching of Sacramento, California; and numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews and cousins.

Florendo Cabanting
Florendo C. Cabanting, 70, of Keaau, died Feb. 3, 2022. Born Jan. 27, 1952, in the Philippines, he was a retired papaya farmer.

He is survived by wife, Aida Cabanting of Keaau; son, Anthony (Nalyn) Cabanting; daughters, Flores (Rudy) Evangelio, Cheryl (Maracial) Domingues; uncle, Ben (Kathy) Cabanting; aunts, Pacita Cabanting Pamo Verdugo, and Florencia Domingo; seven cousins; and 14 grandchildren.

Francisca Visaya
Francisca Albano Visaya, 96, of Keaau, died Jan. 19, 2022 at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born Jan. 28, 1925, in the Philippines, she was a retired laborer for a flowers and plant nursery and member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Keaau.
Friends may call at 4 p.m. Feb. 24 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 6 p.m. service. Friends may also call for Mass at 9:30 a.m. Feb. 25 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo. Burial at Homelani Memorial Park (Ilima Section).
She is survived by children, Loreto (Erofida) Visaya, Anatolio (Margarita) Visaya, Jose (Adela) Visaya, Artemio (Rosalinda) Visaya Sr., Valeriano (Maxilinda) Visaya and Antero (Milagros) Visaya Jr. of Keeau; sister, Victoria Albano of Pagudpud, Philippines; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Melvin Masaki
Melvin Masaharu Masaki, 79, of Hilo, died Jan. 10, 2022, at his residence. Born in Palama, Oahu, he was a retired plumber and a member of the Hilo Hooganji Mission and the Plumbers &Fitters UA Local 675.
