Dorothy Stadnyk

Dorothy Evelyn Stadnyk, 83, of Pahoa, died Feb. 19, 2022 at her residence. Born in Frenchburg, Kentucky, she was a retired retail manager for Pier One Imports. No services.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hawaii Care Choices.

She is survived by spouse, Ross Stadnyk; sons, David (Pornapat) Dye and Gary (Cindy Nuccio) Dye; daughters, Betsy (Tom Adams) Tipper and Shelley (Clifford Fish) Tamiso; sisters, Betsy Symmes and Donna Murphy; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Masayoshi Nishimori

Masayoshi Nishimori, 88, of Paauhau, died Jan. 24, 2022 at the North Hawaii Community Hospital. Born Jan. 6, 1934, in Paauhau, he retired from Hamakua Sugar Co. as a journeyman mechanic, worked part-time maintaining golf carts at Waimea Country Club and was a member and the president of Hamakua Jodo Mission.

Friends may call from 9 to 10:30 a.m. March 5 at Hamakua Jodo Mission in Paauhau Mauka (Honokaa) for visitation. Private service to follow. No flowers.

He is survived by sons, Duane Nishimori of Paauhau and Dyke Nishimori of Lihue, Kauai; daughter, Dawn (Destry) Matsui of Hilo; brother, Yoshio (Marlene) Nishimori of Owensboro, Kentucky; sisters, Florence Higa of Honolulu, and Sonja (Ted) Gumbs and Jane (Warren) Miyasaki, all of Hilo; four grandchildren; and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.

Edith Kahoalii

Edith Kapule Kahoalii, 94, of Kailua-Kona, died Feb. 12, 2022 at her residence. Born June 11, 1927, in Wailuku, Maui, she was a retired library technician at the University of California, Davis Health Sciences Library, worked part-time at JCPenney, Uniglobe Southland Travel in Hayward, Ca., and was a member of Na Wai Puna O Kona, past member of Ke Ola Pono No Na Kupuna, Alu Like, Kona, O Ka’ahumanu Wahine Ali’i Ahahui of Hayward, Ca.,Kaniohale Community Association Board of directors.

Private services. The family requests no flowers or monetary gifts.

She is survived by children, Richard (Deanna) Kahoalii Jr. of Davis, California, LaVerne (Walter) Quinones of Kailua-Kona, and Eric (Sharron) Kahoalii of San Leandro, California; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 6 step-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and counsins.

Chiyono Kobayashi

Chiyono Kobayashi, 100, of Kealakekua, died Feb. 8, 2022. Born March 7, 1921, in Hilo, she was the retired owner of the former Yamada Furniture Store-Kona, a member of the Kainaliu Makai Kumi, former state Health Commissioner, and former president of the Kona BPW (Business &Professional Women’s Club).

Friends may call from 1 to 3 p.m. March 27 at the former Yamada Furniture Store-Kona (currently Club Rehab Mauka Clinic) for a drive-thru celebration of life. Private services will follow.

She is survived by son, Grant (Ryoko) Kobayashi of Kealakekua; daughters Glenna (Charles) Bell of Kealakekua and Charlotte (Daniel) Graham of Honolulu; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
