James McClean

James “Jimmy” “Jimbo” Adams McClean, 40, of Holualoa, died Feb. 20, 2022 at Kona Community Hospital. Born June 25, 1981, in Kealakekua, he was a maintenance man at Wyndham Kona Hawaiian Resort, worked as a tablet operator for Cyanotech and a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Friends may call at 10 a.m. March 7 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Kailua-Kona for a service. The family request casual attire and flowers are welcome.

He is survived by wife, Kilisitina McClean; daughters, Sulia Poloa, Lalelei McClean, Jaena McClean, Annabelle McClean, all of Holualoa and Tayler Lightfoot of Kohala; parents, Jim and Millie McClean of Kailua-Kona; brother, Malcolm Acol of Kailua-Kona; sisters, Donna (Mitch) Berdon of Honalo and Marie (Derek) Hong of Kailua-Kona; parents-in-law, Moeao and Maliana Poloa of American Samoa; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, grandnieces and cousins.

Raymond Rosa Jr.

Raymond “Ray” Rosa, Jr., 87, of Waimea, died Feb. 25, 2022, at his residence. Born Nov. 23, 1934, in Honolulu, he was a retired public works supervisor for the City of Pacifica California, co-founder of Northern California Hawaiian Athletic Association, member of Puka da Sky Golf Club of Hayward, California and St. James’ Episcopal Church Men’s Golf Group, and a U.S. Army veteran.

Service information to be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to North Hawaii Hospice, 65-1328 Kawaihae Road, Kamuela, HI 96743.

He is survived by wife, Laurie Rosa of Waimea; daughters, Doriann (Eric Boatwright) Rosa-Boatwright, Raelynn (Jeff Forehan) Rosa, Tracey (Mike) Hall and Stephanie Alonzo, all of California; sisters, Margie Rapoza of Washington and Nancy Colon of California; 11 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

David Davis

David Ellis Davis, 74, of the Big Island, died Feb. 21, 2022, in Washington, Utah.

Emory Kuhl

Emory L. Kuhl, 65, of Hilo died Dec. 6, 2021. He was born March 8, 1956 in Pennsylvania, he was highway worker for the State of Hawaii.

Private service held.

He is survived by partner, Maryann Kuhl of Hilo; daughter, Elizabeth (Dominic Cameron) Kuhl; two grandchildren; brothers, James Kuhl, and Gordon Kuhl; sister, Linda (Bill) Ferreira; and two nieces and a nephew.

Joanne O’Donnell

Joanne “Jo’O” Lauden O’Donnell, 88, of Ocean View, died Feb. 21, 2022, at Life Care Center of Kona. Born Nov. 17, 1933 in Providence, Rhode Island, she was a registered nurse.

She is survived by sons, Franklin O’Donnell of Alaska, and Gerald O’Donnell of Ocean View; daughter, Joanna O’Donnell of California; four grandchildren; and a great-grandson.

Yasue Okino

Yasue Watanabe Okino, 88, of Captain Cook, died Jan. 12, 2022 at Kona Community Hospital. Born Nov. 11, 1937, in Hilo, she was a retired elementary school teacher, and a member of HSTA, Kona Hongwanji Buddhist Temple.

Services held.

She is survived by sons, Cody (Melissa) Okino and Ky (Bridgette) Okino, all of Kailua-Kona; daughter, Shay Dee (Ronald Daog) Okino of Las Vegas; brothers, Richard (Barbara) Watanabe of Kailua-Kona, and George (Hatsue) Watanabe of Pearl City, Oahu; sister, Lynn (Sandy) Hirano and Amy (David) Myer, all of Hilo; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Gifford Nakapa’ahu

Gifford A. Nakapa’ahu, 75, of Hilo, died Feb. 20, 2022. Born in Honolulu, he was a member of the Local Tapers Union 1944.

He is survived by wife, Sheila Nakapa’ahu; sons, Kyle (Lehuanani) Nakapa’ahu, Kelsey (Kui) Nakapa’ahu, and Robin (Katherine) Nakapa’ahu; sister, Rheba (Mark) Nakapa’ahu-Smith of San Diego; and nine grandchildren.
