Art sought for annual coffee festival
Kona Coffee Cultural Festival, Hawaii’s oldest food festival, announces its Call for Signature Art for the official image of the 51st Kona Coffee Cultural Festival.
Hawaii artists are invited to submit original Kona coffee art in all art forms including fine art, graphic design and photography. Artists are encouraged to be inspired by Kona’s coffee culture and the Festival’s mission to preserve, perpetuate and promote Kona’s unique nearly 200-year coffee heritage.
Artists of traditional media including oil, acrylic, tempera, watercolor, illustrations as well as computer graphics and photographers are invited to participate.
There is no entry fee to participate and the competition is open to all Hawaii Island residents 18 and older. Artwork submissions are due by March 31.
One submission will be selected from all eligible entrants. The selected artist will receive a monetary honorarium of $500; name recognition on all print collateral, including poster, magazine and rack cards; feature in the Kona Coffee Cultural Festival 32-page full color magazine and press release showcasing the artist.

DMAC receives recognition
Donkey Mill Art Center has received national recognition from Ovation TV, America’s only arts network, and its partner Charter Communications with a “2021-2022 Stand for the Arts Award.”
Donkey Mill is one of just 15 organizations nationwide recognized for its support of creative/artistic communities. A check was presented at Donkey Mill’s recent “Convergence” live auction fundraiser.
“Donkey Mill Art Center is honored to be one of the recipients of a Stand For The Arts Award,” said Executive Director Maja Grajski. “It is a testament to Ovation TV’s progressive pulse on community engagement and the power of small organizations to rapidly respond to community needs at a ground-level, accessible scale. This award will directly support our ability to integrate arts and culture in the community through our Youth Education programs at the Mill and in area schools.”
