Gladys Wong

Gladys Cecilia Kim Wong, 94, of Hilo, died March 20, 2022, at Hale Anuenue Restorative Care Center. Born in Honokaa, she was a homemaker and a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Private services held. The family requests in lieu flowers or monetary gifts, people say a prayer for the Kim family.

She is survived by sons, Wesley Wong, Dennis (Joyce) Wong and Robert (Susan) Wong, all of Hilo; daughter, Joy (Jon) Katada of Hilo; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Walter Hiraishi

Walter Hiraishi, 85, of Kailua-Kona, died on March 20, 2022 at Kona Community Hospital. Born April 9, 1936 in Kealakekua, he was the retired business owner of Blondies.

Friends may call at 8 a.m. April 9 at Old Kona Airport Park Pavilion in Kailua-Kona for a 10 a.m. service.

He is survived by sons, Aaron Hiraishi and Jerry (Paula) Hiraishi, all of Kailua-Kona, and Henry (Jessea) Hiraishi of Phillipiness; daughter, Ann (Neil) McCue of Pleasanton, California; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Melonie Leopoldo

Melonie Faye Myra Ganhinhin Leopoldo, 53, of Naalehu, died Feb. 1, 2022 at her residence. Born Oct. 9, 1968 in Honolulu, she was a member of the Hilo Diabetes Awareness Classes.

She is survived by daughter, Katherine (Michael) Myra Latimore; sister, Patricia (Foster) Baucom; and six grandchildren.
