Police on Tuesday confirmed one person was killed in a Monday evening “boating incident” in North Kona.

Kona Patrol officers responded to the Honokohau Small Boat Harbor shortly after 6 p.m. for a fatal boating incident, according to the Hawaii Police Department, which is working in conjunction with the Department of Land and Natural Resources Division of Boating and Ocean Recreation to assist the United States Coast Guard, who has jurisdiction of the incident.

USCG declined to provide additional details of the incident citing an ongoing investigation Tuesday.

Anyone with information relative to the reported incident should contact Petty Officer Graham of the U.S. Coast Guard at (808) 763-6520.
